How booking works

From enquiry to dinner, in four simple steps

1. 1. Send your enquiry. Tell Gus your date, the number of guests, where you are and what you're celebrating — a birthday dinner in Clifton, a hen night in Bath or a garden BBQ in Somerset.
2. 2. Receive a tailored proposal. Within 24 hours you'll get a menu suggestion built around the season, your dietary needs and your budget, with a clear per-person guide price.
3. 3. Confirm and secure your date. Once you're happy with the menu, a deposit secures the booking. Gus handles all shopping, sourcing and preparation.
4. 4. Relax on the night. Gus arrives, cooks in your kitchen, serves each course and leaves the kitchen spotless — you simply enjoy your guests.

Where Gus cooks

The Lovey Chef is based in Bristol and cooks across South West England within roughly 50 miles of the city — including Bath, Clifton, Keynsham, Thornbury, Weston-super-Mare, Wells, Frome, Chippenham, Cheltenham and much of Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. If you're just outside the area, get in touch anyway — travel can often be arranged.

What to include in your message

The more detail you share, the better the first proposal. Helpful details include your preferred date and start time, guest numbers, the style of evening (sit-down dinner, sharing platters, tapas or BBQ), any allergies or dietary requirements, and whether you'd like wine pairing suggestions. Menus draw on French technique, wider European and North African flavours, and Asian cooking — so feel free to mention any cuisine you love.
